Assuring Safe Futures for our Children:
Eliminating Community and School Violence
Memphis City Schools Teaching and Learning Academy
2485 Union Avenue
Memphis City Schools and the Memphis/Shelby County Children and Youth Council, a Regional Council of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, have joined together to present a conference, Assuring Safe Futures for Our Children: Eliminating Community and School Violence, on March 24 and 25, 2011.
The conference will offer workshops, presented by local, state and federal experts in their fields, which address issues of youth violence and victimization, highlighting prevention and intervention strategies that make a difference. We will hear from a dynamic keynote speaker on March 24th and the conference will culminate on March 25th with a Community Café, during which you will have the opportunity to process what you have learned and discuss ways in which you and your profession can better serve the youth with whom you work. This timely conference coincides with National Youth Violence Prevention Week (March 21-25, 2011).
You will have the opportunity to leave this conference with innovative ideas and strategies for preventing and intervening in a variety of issues concerning youth violence and victimization. The cost to attend this conference is nominal and the information invaluable. We hope that you will join us!
